The Mending Season is the story of a teenage girl who finds herself facing the challenges of a new multi-racial school in the new South Africa of 1990. Told mainly through the voice of the main character, Tshidiso, the novel draws the reader into a story within a story, the experience of a racial incident against the backdrop of a family and community coming to terms with social and political change.
