This collection crosses the barriers of geographical and cultural backgrounds by bringing together short plays from around the world. Four of the seven plays are local and contemporary, highlighting southern Africa's rich theatrical tradition. Malan deftly juxtaposes humorous plays with more serious ones. Each play is followed by thought-provoking notes which discuss the play's themes and offer practical advice on staging the play.
