Le fathlwa le shebile
A group of employment seekers discusses the current trend for “fly-by-night” companies to offer training which is not registered and which they say will open the door to employment. The desperate unemployed pay these companies to register, or pay for training, and then see themselves cheated out of the little money they have.
A woman in the group then widens the discussion to show how ignorance, and the desire to get bargains, led her to lose all her money to a sharp “con-man”. The story gives adult readers in a learning group an excellent opportunity to tell their own stories of how they have been cheated. The text is suitable for learners who have just learned to read but are not yet fluent.
