About this publication

Constitutionalism and Labour Law in Times of Transition is dedicated to marking the immense contribution of Halton Cheadle to the development of South African law over a period of more than 50 years. During this time, Halton has been a trade union organiser, litigator, academic and drafter of critical legislation since the advent of democracy. The volume seeks to acknowledge and honour Halton’s contribution and to pay tribute to the various roles he has played. His career has been defined by an unwavering commitment to the advancement of social and economic justice, and he has left an indelible mark on South Africa’s democratic foundation. This volume represents a modest attempt by his colleagues to publicly acknowledge his immense contribution to the development of the law and the profound inspiration that we have all drawn from his life and work.
