After her divorce, Alet Snyman returns to Karibib. She is just in time for the yearly Vleisfees, or Meat Festival. But things don’t feel so festive for Alet. She nearly ended the career of a man she cares for. Erika Schultz, the Herero woman who previously took Alet under her wing, doesn’t want her there. And to top it all, the main singer and biggest attraction of the Festival dies in the middle of the first concert Alet attends. Inspector Con Dorfling, head of Karibib’s police department, just had his first disciplinary hearing for assault. He’s put on a six-month probation and hasn’t even left Windhoek when he gets news of the German singer’s death in Karibib. Also, that Alet is back. He shouldn’t be surprised, really, because trouble and
death seem to follow wherever Alet Snyman goes.
