Part 1 of this book is a general introduction to constitutional law and Part 2 focuses on the Bill of Rights. It is ideal for two semester courses.
In its first part this book deals with the values, elements and workings of a constitutional state which includes the authority of the government and the separation and distribution of the powers of the state among its various organs and tiers as described in the Constitution of South Africa. In the second part in the South African Bill of Rights is discussed with reference to the process for its enforcement, as well as its influence on the interpretation of legislation and the development of common law and customary law. The various rights and their limitation are examined in detail.
