Nuwe Alles-In-Een Graad R Gegradeerde Leesreeks: Vlak 1 Leesboek 1: Ons speel
About this book:
The NEW ALL-IN-ONE GRADE R GRADED READING SERIES takes learners on a reading adventure and has been compiled to enrich reading, to foster an interest in books and reading, and to assist learners in improving their vocabulary and language. The visual material reflects the race demography in South Africa and is truly South African so that learners are able to associate with the content.
- The readers are graded
from easy to readlanguage (levels 1-4) to more difficult reading (levels 5-8). The reasoning questions are based on this grading to ensure progression and reading success. - The
colour of each level corresponds with the cover of the reader – learners start by reading the green level in five teaching weeks, and progress to the purple level in the last five teaching weeks of the year. - There are 40 readers – one reader per instructional/teaching week, i.e. ten readers per term.
- The initial sounds and sight words that are being
learnt correspondwith the sounds and phonics that Grade R learners should start torecognise and know according to CAPS. - The series is compiled by genre: picture books, reasoning books, reading stories, fantasy, fables, nature stories, nonfiction (with facts), myths and folklore.
- Teachers and parents can do colour, picture and object recognition (e.g. What do you see in the picture that is sleeping?), shape recognition (e.g. What shape is the house?), number recognition (e.g. How many shoes did Kangaroo buy from Franny?) as well as recognition of real objects (e.g. Does a real tree look like the one in the picture?).
- The teaching plan on the inside of each reader guides the teacher and parent and includes all the steps of the reading process (pre-reading, during reading and post-reading) to enrich the learner’s imagination, personal and social wellbeing and beginning knowledge.
- Clear guidelines are given when auditory and visual activities with learners should be done as part of the pre-reading, during reading and post-reading steps, as listed in the teaching plans.
- The series for preparation for reading consists of eight levels with four readers to be “read” by them and one reader read by the teacher (always the last reader) per level. The kind of reader is indicated in the bottom corner.
